We co-exist to help and uplift each other. Since its inception and incorporation way back in 2019, USSURC has undertaken several key strategic programs which have enabled over 25,000 South Sudanese refugees in Uganda as well as other asylum seekers from various refugee communities to thrive and co-exist in harmony with the host community. Through strategic partnerships and a number of key community developmental programs and interventions, USSURC continues to leverage its stance to harness its full potential and optimally utilize its resources to create a difference in the lives of a multitude of refugees and people in the host community particularly those from poverty stricken households. Through a cohort of capacity building programs such as Education, youths and adult skilling, SACCOs (refugee community saving groups), positive living and health interventions, we are able to address the humanitarian crisis triggered by psycho-social, economic and a number of overarching issues affecting the refugee community.

Urban refugee communities are believed to be self-reliant but this has never been the case based on our experience. In general, the urban refugees are struggling to sustain themselves, especially single mothers. Most of them lack the education and skills to access Job opportunities. United South Sudan Urban Refugee Community (USSURC) envisions a transformed, inclusive, and vibrant refugee community, where refugees are motivated and inspired to achieve their fullest potential through engagement in the sustainable socio-economic development of the refugee communities, in consonance with their core values and beliefs.
